THE ALPHA G.E.N.T.S. MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
DELTA RHO LAMBDA CHAPTER, ALPHA PHI ALPHA FRATERNITY, INC.
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

Collage promoting Alpha G.E.N.T.S. Mentoring Program by Delta Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Includes young men in suits, community activities, and contact info for mentoring applications. Features fraternity members interacting with community.

The Alpha G.E.N.T.S. Mentorship Program consists of a specifically selected group of young men (herein referred to as Alpha G.E.N.T.S.) between the ages of thirteen through seventeen possessed with the following positive attributes: leadership skills; scholastic zeal; gentlemanly demeanor; public decorum; cultural refinement; moral sobriety; neatness in appearance; and civic concerns. In addition, Alpha G.E.N.T.S. members should be proficient in both oral and written communication skills.

Established in the aegis of the Delta Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. located in San Antonio, Texas, this group of highly motivated young men will primarily engage in a program of cultural enrichment, historical enhancement, and development and further refinement of leadership attributes the Participants already possess. They will be brought into communion with similar young men of their potential and will be challenged to accept the obligation of becoming emissaries of academic excellence and student leadership in their respective schools, as well as ambassadors of goodwill in their respective families, churches, and communities.

The Fraternity wishes to provide these young men with an organized means of displaying their talents and reasoning skills in a wholesome ambiance outside of the usual school setting. A specifically prepared program of motivational speakers, roundtable discussions, special assignments, and field trips are proposed to accentuate the positive attributes inculcated in them by their parents; the educational knowledge disseminated to them in schools; and the spiritual sobriety they have acknowledged through church and religious participation. Additionally, each young man will be paired with a mentor from the Delta Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Succinctly stated: Alpha G.E.N.T.S. members are young men desirous of accepting the challenges of becoming even better men and will serve as student role models to their peers.  At the end of each academic year, parents and friends will be invited to attend the annual public Rites of Passage Program, a ceremony that culturally honors the senior classification Alpha G.E.N.T.S. as having passed from adolescence into adulthood based upon the completion of their leadership and academic tasks in the program. Furthermore, special academic awards will also be presented to program participants.

In conclusion, you, as parents, have a focal role to play in the success of this program. Your participation in the Parents Support Group assists the Participants as well as the Chapter Directors, to formulate salutary civic, cultural, scholastic and social activities that will further the total development of the Participants. In addition, because you as parents have already inculcated within each of your respective sons those qualities that will equip them to become good leaders, students and citizens, we, the members of Delta Rho Lambda Chapter, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, feel that it is our distinct pleasure to work with these young men, and appreciate your sincere trust in our stated obligation to work with these outstanding students so that they may serve as peer role models to others in all their endeavors. Please know that at any time parents and other members of the general public, are both welcomed and encouraged to attend Alpha G.E.N.T.S. sessions. Please further realize that we, as Men of Alpha, will not falter in our dedication and resolve to make this program an exhilarating experience for the Participants and a resounding success for the lives of our youth.

If you are the parent or legal guardian of a young man between the ages of 13 – 17 and both you and this young man can both meet these requirements and adhere to these expectations.
